Next PADESTA mini-grant deadline: January 1, 2010

PADESTA receives $500 grant from ASTA for the development of the regional workshop series.

Do you have a special project in mind for your students?  Funds are available for you through your chapter!  Grant funding has been awarded for projects such as establishment of youth orchestras, instrument festivals, fiddle camps, chamber music camps, partnerships, and master classes given by guest artists. If you have an idea for your school or studio that would benefit from some financial assistance, consider funding that special project with grants from ASTA and PADESTA.

PADESTA Mini Grants ($100–$400):
These grants help fund projects that promote string teaching and playing. Deadlines for submission of applications are as follows:

For projects that occur in February through May: January 1
For projects that occur in June through September: May 1
For projects that occur in October through December and January: September 1 of the previous yea
r

In addition to the PADESTA mini grant, ASTA with NSOA offers a variety of grants and instruments. Applications and guidelines for the ASTA with NSOA Grants can be found at www.astaweb.com click under National foundation or competitions.

ASTA with NSOA Special projects grants ($100.00–$800.00):

These grants are given for innovative activities that promote the state chapter. The deadline for an application is typically deadline June 1 of each year.

Potter’s Violins Instrument Award:

Potter’s Violin in Bethesda Maryland is donating three Rudolph Deutche instruments twice per year to students who demonstrate a particular worthiness and musical promise. Application deadlines April 1 and October 1 each year. Award of a violin, viola, or `cello.

Coda Bows for America Community Outreach Program:
Coda donates approximately $5000.00 worth of Coda Bow Aspire bows annually to promising schools or studios whose financial circumstances prohibit the purchase of a fine bow. Application deadline March 1 each year.

ASTA/Auday-Giormenti Double Bass Competition:

This is a new Double Bass competition, which will award two basses to two players between the ages of 12 and 21.

Classics for Kids Foundation:

Will donate instruments to ASTA with NSOA state chapters, studios and school programs that do not have financial resources to purchase instruments. They cannot be accessed via the ASTA website but can be contacted at www.classicsforkids.org or Tel. 406-587-8183 for more information.
