2007 - Andrew L. Jones
The son of Donald N. and Gail B. Jones, Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Andrew is presently a freshman at Mansfield University, Mansfield, Pennsylvania studying Music Education with a concentration on violin. Andrew is co-concertmaster of the Mansfield University Orchestra and a member of the Spirit and Pride of Pennsylvania Marching Band at Mansfield University playing 1st Trumpet. Andrew recently auditioned for and secured a seat in the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra in the 1st Violin section. Andrew has also auditioned for and received a merit music scholarship from Mansfield University. For this scholarship he auditioned on Violin with over forty-five other music students comprising all student levels at the university. Andrew presently serves as a senator in the Mansfield University Student Government and holds student memberships in ASTA and MENC.
In high school Andrew was the Concertmaster of the Cedar Crest High School Orchestra, President of the Chorus and Concert Band, Principal Trumpet in the Wind Ensemble, Lead Trumpet in the Jazz Band, Junior and Senior Drum Major in the Marching Band, and a member of the Show Choir, Concert Choir, Barbershop Harmony Club, and Students for Christ. Jones is currently a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Cleona, where Jones was a member of the Chancel Choir, participated in youth fellowship, and served on two mission teams. Jones was also a teacher for the Cornwall-Lebanon Band Instrument Tutor Program and an assistant teacher for the Suzuki Strings of Lebanon Valley group classes.
Among Andrew’s honors are Cedar Crest High School Renaissance Student of the Month for April 2007; “Who’s Who Among American High School Students”; United States Achievement Academy National Band Award; Tri-M Honorary Music Fraternity, serving as president for two years; National School Choral Award, National School Orchestra Award, Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence, Cedar Crest Music Aides Trust Fund, Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, Russell C. Hatz Memorial Scholarship Award, Harmonia Music Club Scholarship, Mt. Gretna Arts Council Scholarship, District 7 PMEA Orchestra Festival Scholarship; member of Pennsylvania Music Educators Association State Chorus; qualifier for Pennsylvania Music Educators Association State Orchestra; and concertmaster of the Lebanon Valley College Honors Orchestra, 2006. Jones has performed the violin at Carnegie Hall in New York City twice during his school career. He has studied with Harmonia member Constance Heim Stambaugh and Dr. Jennifer Sacher-Wiley of Susquehanna University. Jones is currently studying with Dr. Kenneth Sarch of Mansfield University. |
